Summary

In late 2020, despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the leadership and management of Essex Fells Country Club in Essex Fells, New Jersey, recognized the need to modernize the club’s facilities to better serve its evolving membership.

Following a series of membership focus groups, the club established a comprehensive renovation program focused on enhancing the member experience throughout the property. The program included a transformative renovation of the main clubhouse, featuring new bar and dining spaces, expanded outdoor areas, and improved utilization of the lower level. Additional improvements included renovations to the locker rooms and significant enhancements to the pool experience, with upgrades to the paddle facilities planned as a subsequent phase.

With overwhelming membership support for the proposed improvements, the project moved into design and documentation and ultimately through successful construction. The completed renovation delivers a fully revitalized club experience, seamlessly connecting the clubhouse’s interior spaces with the surrounding grounds and spectacular views of the golf course.
