Central Park Boathouse
Location
New York, NY
Summary
Located in New York City’s Central Park, this significant historic facility was selected by a multi-unit hospitality operator to become a premier destination dining venue. JBD was engaged for its hospitality expertise and recognized interior design capabilities, leading the transformation of the property into a refined restaurant and event destination that complements the character of Frederick Law Olmsted’s iconic park.
The project included an expansion of the building overlooking the Lake, along with the development of a new commercial kitchen serving both the restaurant and expanded park-side outdoor dining areas. JBD also renovated and elevated an existing Pavilion into a sophisticated event venue designed to accommodate private gatherings and special occasions.
Preserving a classic aesthetic was a central priority for the Client. Every element from lighting and furnishings to architectural details and decorative finishes was carefully selected to reinforce the timeless character of the setting. Signature features include grand sliding glass rail systems, multi-tiered dining areas, and the restoration and integration of historic fixtures.
The completed project creates a seamless connection between the historic architecture, contemporary hospitality, and surrounding landscape, establishing a distinctive dining and event experience that enhances the character of Central Park while honoring its original design legacy.
