Summary
Located in the affluent suburb of Greenwich, Connecticut, Burning Tree Country Club recognized the need to evolve its facilities in response to an increasingly diverse membership and changing patterns of club use. The club engaged JBD JGA to explore opportunities for interior improvements that would enhance the member experience without significantly altering the existing clubhouse footprint.
Beginning with a comprehensive feasibility study, JBD JGA developed a strategic approach to reorganize and refresh the clubhouse, creating a more cohesive and inviting environment while maximizing the potential of the existing spaces. The design reimagined key member destinations, including the grand lobby, member lounge, member grill, bar, and dining complex, improving both functionality and the connections between spaces.
The transformation extended beyond spatial reorganization to encompass a complete interior design refresh. New furniture, lighting, artwork, finishes, and color palettes brought renewed energy and sophistication to the foyer, lobby, stairway, living room, and women’s lounge. The pre-function and ballroom spaces received similarly detailed upgrades, creating a more polished and flexible setting for member events, celebrations, and gatherings.
The project demonstrates how thoughtful interior architecture and design can significantly elevate the club experience without relying on a major expansion. By strategically reorganizing existing spaces and introducing a cohesive design language, JBD JGA created environments that feel fresh, welcoming, and responsive to the way members use the club today.
The club’s evolution continues beyond the clubhouse. Current work includes the construction of a new resort-style pool complex and tennis facility, extending the club’s amenity offering and creating new opportunities for recreation, relaxation, and social engagement. Together, these ongoing improvements position Burning Tree Country Club for the future while reinforcing its established sense of place and community.
